Oeko-Tex safety certification at TV TecStyle Visions

Oeko-Tex will be taking part in the TV TecStyle Visions fair, the leading European fair for textile finishing and promotion, that will be taking place from 13-15 February in Stuttgart, Germany. Experts from several Oeko-Tex institutions will be available to speak to more than 10,000 trade visitors from around the world about the benefits and certification options for textile advertising and merchandising articles in accordance with the Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

The market today offers a wide spectrum of Oeko-Tex certified textile and clothing products, including accessories, which can be used for the manufacture of promotional articles.

Suppliers from the promotional materials sector who want to distinguish their finished, embroidered, printed, or coated textiles with the ‘Confidence in Textiles’ label, should be aware, however, that all components in the end product must fulfil the required human ecological criteria to receive Oeko-Tex certification – not just the ready-made basic articles such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, caps etc.

Testing

With the Oeko-Tex Buying Guide available on the website, customers can search for suppliers whose products are certified according to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

However, as soon as the manufacturers of basic promotional materials apply embroidery, flocking, lace and trim detailing or use printing processes such as screen, digital and transfer printing on certified products, it is necessary to have the finished promotional article retested by one of the Oeko-Tex member institutes before it can be awarded the label ‘Confidence in Textiles’.

This is the only way to ensure that promotional materials that have been changed chemically or in their material composition still correspond to the requirements set by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 as a complete product.
