Italian company Comez, a leading manufacturer of crochet knitting machines, needle looms and electronic double needle bed warp knitting machines is to show its innovative CLX/EL needle loom and a range of newly developed fabrics for technical applications at Techtextil which is due to take place in Frankfurt from 16 –18 June.

Comez will show its patented innovative CLX/EL high efficiency electronic needle loom, for weaving rigid and elastic ribbons. The company says that the exclusively designed CLX/EL offers the application of innovative electronics with all-new hardware and software and a robust and compact structure that is easy to use and simplifies maintenance operations. In addition it also offers smooth operation with noise reduced to a minimum and complete absence of vibrations together with high productivity and reliability.

Comez variable ribbonDesigned for the production of a wide range of plain and tubular ribbons, rigid and elastic, the CLX/EL is intended for use in various fields for technical use. Comez says that the machine is also suited to producing high resistance and high tenacity ribbons with compact structure, elastic bandages with "Leno" effect for medical use and ribbons with a variable section.

The Comez CLX/EL is fitted with the company’s new Smart Matrix Controller which uses the latest generation of actuators. The controller manages all the necessary machine functions, monitors production data and allows for the use of numerous electronically controlled devices, including take-up system and feeders. Comez says that this allows the CLX/EL loom to produce exclusive high quality ribbons which cannot be made with other types of looms.

The Comez CLX/EL needle loom is supplied in two versions, namely the CLX/EL 500 with 2 to 8 weaving heads and CLX/EL 700 with 2 to 12 weaving heads. Both are available in different technical specifications.

The CLX/EL is also fitted with a dobby unit with up to 20 heald frames, specifically designed to allow easy and precise heald frame adjustment, and interchangeable weaving heads to facilitate width adjustments and variation of the number of ribbons produced.

Besides a wide range of binding systems, a wide range of optional devices is available in creels, beam carriers, modular positive unwinding units, and feeders for weft and warp threads, catch threads, elastic threads, special yarns, various versions of ribbon take-up systems and finished product collectors.

Comez tubular ribbonComez says its range of machines are especially suited to producing a wide range of fabrics for technical end-uses including ribbons, bands, plain and tubular fabrics, 3-D fabrics, plain and tubular netting, which are employed in a multitude of applications in sectors such as medical, geo-textile, building, automotive, industrial, transport, sports and leisure and furniture.

Comez also says its machines offer ideal characteristics for the production of technical textiles including a high degree of versatility when using special yarns, which can be processed safely while maintaining high operating speeds whilst processing natural yarns such as wool and cotton, special yarns such as Kevlar, aramid and glass fibres, and metallic yarns such as copper and zinc.

The company stresses that its crochet and warp knitting machines can produce a wide range of textile structures such as closed knit tricot, open knit tricot, closed chain and open chain structures which give the fabrics excellent dimensional stability properties or three-dimensional effects.

Comez also claims that, with its exclusive electronic drive system, it is possible to obtain very long and varied pattern repeats and special effects on fabrics, guaranteeing constant and uniform yarn feed.
