TCIC is an R&D and mass-production plant of Sereebo, Teijin’s proprietary technology for mass producing carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP). It obtained ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation for its evaluation capabilities in April 2015 as the world’s first manufacturer of carbon fibre composite materials to achieve this.

According to the manufacturer, these accreditations verify the high global standard of TCIC’s quality management and of its production and evaluation operations.

Accreditation

ISO/TS 16949 was designed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), a body comprising nine European and American automakers and five automotive industrial organizations from the US, Germany, France, Italy and the UK.

It defines quality management system requirements for organizations providing services for automotive products. The nine IATF-affiliated automakers require all Tier 1 automotive suppliers to obtain ISO/TS 16949 certification, and Tier 2 suppliers to construct systems based on this standard, as one of their terms of business.

Quality management systems are subject to comprehensive review by third-party auditing authorities, contributing to a reduction in the incidence of defective goods. In addition, ISO/TS 16949 incorporates customer specifics added by individual automakers, and enables product-service suppliers to maintain international quality standards. Customers tend to give preference to products manufactured by ISO/TS 16949-certified suppliers.
