TenCate Advanced Armour will cooperate with a Singapore-based shipyard to design, develop and manufacture lightweight ballistic protection for crew and mission critical equipment on a number of large maritime vessels for a Middle Eastern end-user.

This, the company believes, will ensure increased survivability for the crew on board the vessels without impairing speed or performance.

With this new order booked for three years, TenCate Advanced Armour aims at strengthening its position in global markets. “Over the years, TenCate Advanced Armour has gained much experience from maritime projects in Europe and we apply this experience to a growing number of projects in Asia Pacific now,” commented  Steen Tanderup, Managing Director of TenCate Advanced Armour EMEA & APAC.

With the opening of a new marketing and sales office in Singapore in 2012, TenCate Advanced Armour saw new orders coming in from Asian shipyards and Asian vehicle manufacturers, the company reports.

Currently, there is said to be a substantial growth in this maritime market with considerable new orders for a wide variety of armour solutions for all maritime platforms including large patrol vessels, crew boats, raiding craft and rigid hull inflatable boats.
