The USA based Texas Tech University and Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT), Sathyamangalam, India, jointly announce the 6th edition of, “Advances in Textiles, Machinery, Nonwovens and Technical Textiles-ATNT 2009,” December 7-9, 2009.

For the past five years, USA based Texas Tech University has been providing an international platform in the Coimbatore area for exchanging cutting-edge topics and ideas on emerging textile fields such as nonwovens, specialty fabrics and technical textiles. Value-addition and diversification are very critical at the present times due to the global economic slowdown. The economic woes, export declines and infrastructural bottlenecks demand the Indian textile industry to eye on to new fields such as “Technical Textiles”.     

The ATNT-2009 international conference, which will be held at the Bannari Amman Institute of Technology campus in Sathyamangalam, India from December 7th -9th, 2009, will focus on finding solutions to some of the difficulties faced by Indian Textile Industry and providing information on new market opportunities for global players. The conference will bring industrial and academic experts from many parts of the world to deliberate on latest topics in the field of value-added textiles. These will be of immediate use to the Indian and Global Textile Industry. The major thrust of the conference in to bring industry, academia and government agencies on a single platform.

 As India now offers 100 percent foreign direct investment opportunity in the textiles sector, it is of immense value for the global textile industry to participate in the international event, ATNT-2009, organisers say.

A large global gathering with wider participation from academia, industry and government is expected. Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar of Texas Tech University who originally designed and developed the ATNT conference will jointly work with Dr. A. Venkatachalam, Dean, Department of Textile Technology, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology in the conduct of this international event. The conference is held under the leadership of Dr. S. V. Balasubramaniam, Chairman, Bannari Amman Group, India.
