US based technical textiles manufacturer Carolina Silver, has been acquired by Noble Biomaterials, which wants to add the North Carolina based company’s antibacterial technologies to its range of antibacterial products.

Carolina Silver makes fibres, yarns and fabrics which incorporate silver to add antimicrobial and conductive properties. The company’s materials are used in applications such as wound care, military and industrial under its AG3+ brand. Noble Biomaterials, based in Scranton, PA, makes antimicrobial technologies under its X-STATIC brand.

“Carolina Silver has been a leader within the silver textile solutions industry,” Jeff Keane, CEO of Noble Biomaterials, said in a statement. “Its technologies will support the growth of the X-STATIC brand in preventing infections, healing wounds and eliminating odour.”

No financial terms between the two private companies were disclosed. Carolina Silver’s Jerry Finney said that integrating Carolina Silver’s technologies into Noble’s global sales capabilities will enable the company to reach more customers around the world. Besides its Pennsylvania headquarters and manufacturing facilities, Noble has offices in Europe, Asia and South America.
