James Heal, a UK based precision engineering company and manufacturer of textile testing equipment, will take part for the first time in the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market that brings together the leading winter and outdoor retailers from 21-24 January in Salt Lake City, UT.

James Heal’s Business Development Manager, Lisa Earnshaw, will be teaming up with ATI - Advanced Testing Instrument, the company’s exclusive sales and service representative in North America, to promote the company’s range of textile testing instruments, which are designed to ensure winter sports gear performs to the high expectations demanded by the end customer.

Testing solutions

The James Heal stand at ORWM 2015 will emphasise the importance of using the highest quality of precision testing instruments to ensure the outdoor clothing and equipment live up to exacting standards, in terms of design and performance, when subjected to the extreme environments to which these garments are exposed.

The company will be demonstrating key instruments and Lisa Earnshaw will be available to discuss how James Heal testing solutions can benefit the outdoor sportswear industry.

Instruments on show

Martindale 1309 -  the company’s abrasion and pilling tester, which can be used to test abrasion and pilling levels on cycling trousers, walking socks, knitted hats, scarves and gloves, base layers, collars on sportswear, cords and straps on walking equipment as well as many other fabrics and leather products.

Elmatear – a versatile digital tear tester originally designed for testing textiles that can be used to test the strength of a wide array of textile products, including tents and parachutes, as well as other fabric and non-woven products.

TruBurst – a pneumatic bursting strength and fatigue tester is used to measure the burst strength of the elbows and knees of cycling gear and skiwear, and the stretch and recovery of Lycra items such as swimming costumes and gymwear.  It can also be used on medical products such as blister packs and mosquito nets, and other textiles, nonwovens and plastics.
