Smart Fabrics are big business. The smart textiles market is expected to hit US$642.1 million globally by the end of 2008, representing a compound annual growth rate of 28.3%. These figures are set to increase yet further into 2009 to keep pace with new applications emerging in the sector. Accordingly IntertechPira is to present the 5th annual Smart Fabrics conference, a global forum for all the developments you should know about.

Smart Fabrics 2009 is the top networking event for the industry, featuring 38 presentations from leading integrators, brand owners and manufacturers, who will give their first-hand opinion on how the industry needs to move forward to meet market requirements. Taking place in Rome on 10 - 12 March 2009, the Smart Fabrics conference will provide an overview of this fast growing sector and an assessment of the market opportunities. From bio-monitoring systems to new nano-coating technologies, the programme will cover the most crucial textile effects and most exciting technologies of tomorrow, whilst always considering the commercial application, such as the cost of integrating micro-electronics into textiles.

This well-established two day event and half day workshop will feature three afternoon streams of presentations analysing the latest business, design and scientific developments in the smart textiles field. Delegates will have the chance to learn about emerging applications on the boundaries of what is possible in smart textiles. Exploring the newest trends faced by home health care, industrial clothing, sport clothing, cosmetics and other markets, IntertechPira’s 5th annual Smart Fabrics 2009 is an event not to be missed.
