Leading German manufacturer of warp knitting machines Karl Mayer will be presenting its latest warp knitting technologies for technical applications, including a talk on spacer fabrics, at next week's Techtextil North America 2011 exhibition.

The leading North American show for technical textiles is being held from 15 to 17 March at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre in Las Vegas, NV, USA.

An accompanying symposium will also take place which aims to add value to the exhibition, where high-calibre speakers will give papers on, amongst other things, crisis management and trends in technical textiles, new developments in outdoor, military, medical and protective clothing, and ways of developing new technologies through technical textiles and sustainability.

Greensboro, NC based Lutz Heinig, Technical Manager at Karl Mayer North America will demonstrate how warp knitting technology with its potential for seamless production offers opportunities for saving resources and reducing costs. The emphasis of his talk will be on the production of ‘super-thick' warp-knitted spacer fabrics with a maximum thickness of 55mm. In addition, Mr Heinig will introduce Karl Mayer's high-tech tricot machines for the efficient production of functional one-piece underwear and lingerie.

New developments in the warp knitting of spacer fabrics make it possible to introduce considerably more functionality into spacer fabrics. In-line variations in density, contours, surface patterns and integrated seamless folding lines enable production of ready to use pieces for a variety of applications, ranging from seat cushioning to protective clothing.
