British high-end audio specialist Wilson Benesch has launched the A.C.T. One Evolution P1 loudspeakers made with Hypetex coloured carbon fibre at the High End Show in Munich, Germany, this week.

The innovative audio product features a Hypetex construction that delivers the next generation of the company’s Advanced Composite Technology ‘A.C.T.’ Monocoque. The floor-standing loudspeaker will be available in Enzo red, with a number of other motor sport-inspired colours in the pipeline, reflecting the F1 racing origin of the Hypetex material.

Hypetex is the coloured carbon fibre brand, which has been developed by engineers from Formula One, with over 20 years’ experience of working with carbon fibre. Following seven years of research and development, engineers created a coloured carbon fibre composite that is light, bright, bold and strong, making it a suitable material for use in a number of industries.

Carbon fibre in audio engineering

Wilson Benesch pioneered the use of carbon fibre composites in audio engineering in 1990. The British company uses geometric forms to extract the maximum stiffness and damping from the material. The advent of Hypetex’s patented process has now enabled the addition of coloured carbon fibre composite whilst retaining maximum performance, according to the manufacturer.

“The control and management of resonant energy is an engineering problem, which requires the best engineering materials if you want to achieve better results,” explained Craig Milnes, Design Director of Wilson Benesch.

“The A.C.T. Monocoque is a complex hybrid structure and an industry benchmark in acoustic performance. The aesthetic language of this high performance component has to date been limited to black. Hypetex has not only changed that paradigm it has provided new opportunities to enhance the acoustic performance of this component.”

Collaboration

Hypetex’s partnership with Wilson Benesch will be first seen in the A.C.T. One Evolution P1, with the promise of additions to the British manufacturer’s reference line Geometry Series in future that will benefit from Hypetex’s high-tech composite material.

“We are thrilled to be working alongside such an innovative company as Wilson Benesch, who reflect our own determination to push the boundaries of design and technology. The A.C.T. One Evolution P1 symbolises that approach and we look forward to working together on further products,” said Marc Cohen, CEO of Hypetex.

The A.C.T. One Evolution P1 have been officially launched at The High End show, which takes place at the MOC convention centre in Munich, Germany, from 5-8 May. The show is the leading trade fair for the audio industry, with over 500 exhibitors and more than 25,000 visitors enjoying the 2015 edition.
