The recent achievements of American Hygienics Corporation (AHC) – at a time when the world was facing one of the largest supply chain interruptions in modern-day history – were recognised and awarded at the 28th China International Disposable Paper Expo (CIDPEX), held in Nanjing from May 26-28.

ANC, now one of the largest wet wipes manufacturers in China, inaugurated its new state-of-the-art plant in Zhejiang in November 2019, just as the Covid-19 pandemic was beginning in the country. This posed immense challenges in the execution of the new manufacturing site, but its completion and start-up proved instrumental in allowing AHC to meet demand caused by major shortages in the market.

“All dealings in the supply chain were directly between CEO to CEO,” said Nilesh Parmar, founder and CEO of AHC. “It all came down to relationships and reputation, in order to secure spunlace nonwovens. I had to personally meet with each of the CEOs of our suppliers to ensure that we maintained supply commitments They were prioritising materials only to primary long-term A-list partners during the crisis.”

There was immense pressure on the entire supply chain throughout the crisis, and especially on any sector that needed nonwovens, he added.

“During the thick of the pandemic, AHC was able to secure significant capacities of the right nonwovens enabling it to quickly and promptly cover major supply shortages in the market.”

AHC has two manufacturing facilities and a gross annual output of over a billion wipes a year. Its manufacturing facilities are ISO13485 certified and make regular and OTC drug wipe products as well as carrying out US EPA site registrations and collaborating with relevant licensees on infection control products.
