Brazilian composites sector records year of growth

The transportation industries, especially the agricultural vehicle assemblers, continued to respond to most of the demand in 2018. © ALMACOBrazilian composites sector expects to close this year with a turnover of US$ 685 million, an increase of 3.8%, compared to the previous year. It is estimated that the consumption of raw materials in 2018 reached 202,000 tons, a volume that is 3.1% higher than that recorded in 2017. The figures come from Maxiquim, a consultancy contracted by the Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO).

“The year started promising, but we felt a decline in business over the months, especially in the second quarter. In any case, despite intense exchange rate fluctuations and political turmoil, we will have the second consecutive year of growth since 2014,” said Gilmar Lima, president of ALMACO.
