Emerging technology

UK Tech Events, the organisers of the show, for another year are holding some five hours of emerging technology feature sessions, in partnership with NetComposites. The main focus of those are developments currently redefining once familiar engineering landscapes.

Joe Carruthers, Managing Director at Net Composites said: “What I like about the forums at the Advanced Engineering event is that they are very accessible which encourages attendance from across the board. This is a young event at which we aim to present fresh content and expert speakers on current and topical matters.”

Day one

The first day will start off with the Thermoplastics session that will include coverage of natural fibre long fibre thermoplastics, thermoplastic composites using nonwoven materials and the low cost prototyping of complex thermoplastic components.

The discussion will then go on to the topical area of Biocomposites, with reports on the themes of the effects of fire on biocomposites based on natural fibres and poly-furfuryl alcohol resins, emerging bio composite technologies, and regenerated cellulose based textile reinforced composites

In the afternoon the exciting area of Nanocomposites will be the focus, with contributions covering graphene based thermoplastic masterbatches for conventional and additive manufacturing processes, nanofillers, and nanosheet-reinforced polymer nanocomposites.

Day two

The second day of the Composites Engineering Show open conference programme starts with the important area of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of Composites covered, with contributions focusing on the use of low cost additive layer manufacturing for the repair of composite sandwich panel, moisture monitor and its uses in composite production and repair, and NDT applied to composite materials.

Completing the two day programme of NetComposites hosted sessions, the theme of Composites Sustainability and Recycling comes under the spotlight, with coverage of recycling and resource efficiency strategy for the UK Composites Sector, high value nonwovens from recycled carbon fibre, and Quickscan LCA methodologies
