Karl Mayer Malimo has a new business manager as of 1st April. The new man at the helm of the 100% Karl Mayer owned subsidiary, and hence the technical textiles business sector, is Jochen Schmidt, a 42-year-old who has risen through the ranks after ten years at the German company.

Schmidt has his roots in the technical sector. His training as an industrial mechanic was followed by the study of precision engineering in Frankfurt and after working in development at Heraeus in Hanau he came to Karl Mayer in 2002 and is said to have found his niche.

Schmidt took his first post in the Central Construction division, where he was responsible for looking after basic machine components as head of department. At the end of 2005 he then took over the International Business Development sector in order to coordinate and lead machine projects across the groups.

From 2008 he added the technical leadership of Karl Mayer (China) to his portfolio and is now looking forward to further challenges in Chemnitz. Karl Mayer says Schmidt, in his third position in the group of companies, would like to develop high-value technological products in the future oriented business sector in a creative manner and to continue to develop the chosen path as the system supplier with an eye on the customers.

“In addition the integration of the technical textiles business sector, including the production of composites machines and weft-insertion warp knitting machines more firmly into the Karl Mayer  Group is a task to which Jochen Schmidt brings a great deal of experience. Because of his wide-ranging activities he has knowledge of the specifics and the structures, and also knows many colleagues at Karl Mayer locations worldwide,” the company said in a statement.

Schmidt will set up a second home in the Saxon industrial city of Chemnitz where Karl Mayer Malimo is based. Karl Mayer says, working on site, developing personal contacts and settling down in the region will be important to the native of Baden-Württemberg, who currently lives with his family in Frankfurt/Main.
