The Teijin Group has announced that its new Teijin Product Development China will begin developing yarns and textile products, including environmentally friendly products, for automotive, electronics and materials industries in Nantong, Jiangsu Province on 18 April.

Strengthening the position
According to the company, the new centre will strengthen Teijin's textile R&D functions, including cooperation with local companies. Teijin entered into a comprehensive alliance with the China Chemical Fibers Association in March 2012 to develop business for synthetic textiles produced by Chinese companies and textiles manufactured by Teijin.
The centre’s two-story research building and one-story production building will have a total floor space of 10,000 square metres and comprise three facilities — a laboratory, an experimental production facility and an analysis and measurement facility.
Weather-simulation laboratory
The laboratory will simulate various weather conditions, including air temperature, sunlight, humidity, rainfall, snowfall and wind, to test the functions of textile materials and products.
Experimental production facility
This facility will conduct experimental operations for weaving, knitting, dyeing, functional processing and other processes, as well as the designing and sewing of clothing.
Textiles will be designed and evaluated on their applicability to clothing.
Analysis and measurement facility
Here, the centre will evaluate functionality and assess quality to support the development of textiles that meet specific market needs.
