Advansa, a leading European Polyester producer, has announced the introduction at ISPO Munich, which opens on Sunday, two new ranges of high-end technical insulation products for sleeping bags and apparel. In partnership with industry leaders in Asia and Europe, a worldwide distribution network is in place for the new product range, which will be commercialized under two related brand names, Thermocool for apparel and Thermodry for sleeping bags.

Drawing on Advansa’s experience in the research and development of high-tech fibres, both products have been designed to provide not just maximum warmth, but also a microclimate that reduces the adverse effects of perspiration and condensation while enhancing comfort.

Gerard Illeras, Global Market Manager for Sport End uses said: “Advansa has a lot of experience in development and manufacturing of technical fibres both for high end performance insulation products and also special fibres specifically designed to deal with moisture management in sports apparel. It is logical that we have ended up combining the two technologies.”

“Combinations of different special type of fibres with proprietary engineered cross sections enable the products to offer more than just warmth, so they can help to deal with the adverse consequences of perspiration, condensation and humidity inside a garment or sleeping bag”, Illeras added.

The fibre technologies have been incorporated into waddings as the result of an intensive R&D cooperation together with Hong Kong Nonwoven Fabric Ind. Co. Ltd., an industry leader in the global insulations market. Research and development work has been going on for close to two years to define and test the perfect prototypes adapted to the apparel and sleeping bag using the understanding of Hong Kong Nonwoven into technical and market needs of the end-users.

Thermocool products are delivered in different configurations to offer the ideal level of insulation and comfort for each different end-use; Active Sportswear, Fashion, Soft Shells and Accessories such as gloves or boots. Thermocool products also have a wide offer to serve all possible specific requirements for sleeping bags end-use.

Ecological approach

Advansa is well known for its environmental sustainability policies and has a long tradition offering customers the possibility to acquire ecological versions of their technical products. This new range of insulations is not an exception and the offer is enhanced by the presence of post-consumer recycled products to fulfil a growing worldwide market request. Thermocool is also available in a combination with Tencel fibre from Lenzing, thereby combining two fibres under the EU Eco-label and combining the contrasting benefits of the two materials

Quality and availability worldwide

In order to facilitate the availability of the product, Advansa has partnered with leading producers,  Hong Kong Non Woven in Asia and PEG in Europe as sole distributors of Thermocool and Thermodry performance insulations.

In order to guarantee end-users an excellent level of performance, all the insulations are produced under licence and checked and certified to ensure that they fulfil Advansa’s top quality standards.

Advansa has introduced a unique serial numbering system in the sew-in labels for garments and sleeping bags to enable traceability and provide consumer reassurance of buying a genuine licensed product. Anderson Lee Director of Hong Kong Nonwovens comments: “We are pleased and excited to be associated with Advansa in the introduction of this high-tech range of products which have already attracted a high level of interest from leading brands both in Europe and America”.
