Naturally Advanced Technologies Inc., a pioneer in commercializing the use of bast fibres including industrial hemp for use in casual apparel, performance yarns, industrial filters and absorbent pulp and paper products, added Jeremy K. Jones to its advisory board. Jones, an advanced materials industry veteran, will also be consulting with the company on its partnership and business development agreements related to its CRAILAR(R) technology.

"We are thrilled that Jeremy, with his talent, qualifications and recent tenure with Koch Genesis, joined our advisory board," stated Ken Barker, CEO of NAT. "Jeremy's 30 years of experience in building new businesses based on advanced materials will be an invaluable resource for us as we commercialize applications for CRAILAR dissolving pulp in various markets. Our CRAILAR pulping process utilizes environmentally sustainable technology and tests reveal it possesses superior characteristics to the currently available dissolving pulps, making it ideal for applications such as consumer paper products, advanced composites and performance apparel yarns. We are confident Jeremy will contribute to our success in bringing CRAILAR to market."

Jones stated, "NAT has truly disruptive technology that enables mass production using industrial hemp. I believe the company is on a path to change how advanced materials and textiles are produced. NAT is working with development partners to understand the magnitude of potential product enhancements and cost savings that could be created using this new raw material. I am excited to be working with management at this pivotal time in the company's evolution."

Jones, 54, was Vice President of Koch Genesis, the venture arm of Koch Industries, the largest private company in the United States from 2007 through 2009. At Koch he was responsible for deal sourcing, diligence and structuring in areas such as renewable fuels, biopolymers, medical textiles and advanced fibres for Koch's operating businesses INVISTA, Georgia-Pacific and Flint Hills Resources. Prior to Koch, Jones was in leadership and corporate officer roles in Fortune 500 companies such as Polaroid, Motorola and Cabot Microelectronics, where he built several businesses in optical and electronic materials, as well as in start-ups such as Crosslink, a St. Louis company commercializing conductive polymer materials.

Jeremy has a Master of Science in Materials Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Babson College.
