Nurel has announced it will invest in a new spinning plant with primary European technology at its site in Zaragoza, Spain. With the new plant, Nurel says it will be positioned as one of the most credible European fibre producers.

The investment will allow the company to increase its quality leading polyamide 6 and 6.6. yarns capacity by 3,000 tons per year. The POY and FDY capacity are scheduled to be in full production by the beginning of 2010 and the new plant will support the company’s sales into critical and high quality markets.

The business model, which has allowed Nurel to achieve a significant market position and create value in Europe’s difficult and shrinking textile filament business, continues to be focused on being the preferred partner to the few but strong textile companies which need and want to keep their manufacturing operations in Europe.

Ac spokesperson for the company said: “The move is part of the strategy to reinforce Nurel’s position in the European market for polyamide yarns and is perfectly in line with the objective of satisfying the need for a wide range of products, quality and customer service, as well as, positioning Nurel as the most innovative textile company in Europe, expressed by the most demanding users in Europe”.

Nurel is also reinforcing their engineering polymers division with a new strategic position concentrating in high added value polymers branded as Novamid for various demanding markets.
