NextGen textile-to-textile recycler Re&Up, has become the first company in the textile industry to achieve Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification – the most rigorous global standard for verifying circular product design and recovery-readiness at scale – for all three of its products.

Both the company’s pre-consumer and post-consumer cottons have attained C2C Platinum level and its recycled polyester chips C2C Silver.

C2C certification recognises not just recycled content, but takes a full-system approach to circularity – from sourcing and traceability to infrastructure compatibility and reuse pathways.

“This certification demonstrates that Re&Up is ready to tackle sustainability challenges at scale for the whole industry,” said Andreas Dorner, general manager at Re&Up, which is headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands, with manufacturing operations in Turkey. “It proves that recycled fibres can go beyond one-off sustainability claims. With Cradle to Cradle certification, we’re demonstrating full-system readiness from sourcing to end-of-life for the textile industry.”

“Our materials were assessed not just for recycled content, but for their compatibility with future recovery, safe use cycles and the sustainability of the surrounding infrastructure – all of which are critical to providing true circularity solutions at a scale to the largest players in the industry,” added Ebru Özküçük Guler, the company’s chief sustainability officer. “This reflects the robust technology of our approach and our commitment to creating solutions that don’t compromise on quality, scale or impact.”

Re&Up’s certified fibres are already being adopted by leading fashion brands, offering reliable performance comparable with virgin fibres, while providing solutions in compliance and traceability.

“The Product Circularity category is designed to separate ambitious claims from proven impact,” explained Nienke Steen, director of apparel, textiles and footwear at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. “Re&Up has demonstrated that its fibre production is not just compatible with circularity – it’s purpose-built for it.”

“This achievement sets a strong precedent for what fibre innovation can look like in a circular economy,” added Elwyn Grainger-Jones, the institute’s CEO and executive director. “It raises the bar for what’s possible and expected from material suppliers across the fashion and textile sectors”.
