Amni Soul Eco polyamide 6.6 textile yarn is a result of five years of research and development. Its formulation has been enhanced to allow garments made to quickly decompose after being properly disposed of in landfills, making articles environmentally friendly, the company reports.

According to the manufacturer, unlike other fibres that take decades to decompose, this innovative fibre takes only about three years to be eliminated from the planet.

Benefits for consumer

The yarn arrives at the tradeshow as a finalist of the ITMA 2015 Future Material Award, in the Best Innovation - Sustainable Textiles category. The ITMA award recognises the best textile innovations and celebrates the essential work of companies pursue these innovations. The winners will be announced today during a gala dinner for the world's major players in the industrial textile chain.

Amni Soul Eco is said to offer a range of benefits of Rhodia's polyamide, such as its soft touch, extreme comfort, breathability, moisture management, easy-care, and easy washing. It is also easily dyed in different colours so that any kind of garment can be produced for various segments, the company reports.

The product is also internationally Oeko-Tex certified (standard 100, class 1). This sustainable innovation has been already recognized by two awards, including the Kurt Pulitzer Prize, awarded by ABIQUIM (an association of chemical industries), and one from the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).
