SRF Ltd, a leading Indian manufacturer of technical textiles, is planning to add to its product portfolio by entering the laminated fabrics sector. The company, which primarily relies on manufacture of nylon tyre cord, wishes to reduce its dependence on this.
According to the Business Standard, SRF will be the first organised player to enter the laminated fabric industry in India and expects its revenues from technical textiles to increase exponentially. Technical textiles account for half of SRF’s revenues, of which 85 per cent come from the tyre cord business.
“We are trying to enhance our product portfolio. There is enormous opportunity for laminated fabric in the signage industry as most of the fabric is imported from China and Korea,” Ashish Bharat Ram, Managing Director of SRF told the newspaper.
SRF is in the process of building a laminating facility Kashipur, Uttarakhand, with an investment of Rs 60 crore (appx. US$13 million).
