The Composites Innovation Cluster (CiC), which is funded by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills’ Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI), is inviting delegates from the composites sector and associated industries to meet its project partners at the next Programme Steering Group meeting.

The event will take place on 29 April at the Warwick Manufacturing Group’s (WMG) International Digital Laboratory. The CiC programme of projects was designed to address some of the challenges facing the UK composites industry in the high-volume, low-cost manufacturing sector.

This is of particular relevance to the automotive industry but cross-cuts across all sectors. The 15 projects focus on development of materials, knowledge, automation and processes to support growth of the UK supply chain to enable UK OEMs to onshore their requirements.

Innovative projects

“The idea of this event is firstly to let the wider industry know more about the innovative projects that the partners are working on, but as the CiC comes to an end next year it is important that we begin to think about how partners can start to commercialise on their new IP and placing them in a room with delegates from outside of the project is essential in beginning this process,” explained Claire Whysall, Communications Manager for Composites UK and the CiC’s Dissemination Lead.

Presentations will focus on each of these 15 project supported by table-top exhibition spaces from each of the 31 partners and cluster lead, and is suited to delegates looking to buy into the project outcomes in 2016.

Project partners

Project partners who will be in attendance at the event are: AGC AeroComposites, Altair Engineering, Assyst Bullmer, Aviation Enterprises, Axillium Research, Axon Automotive, Cobham, Composites UK, Cranfield University, Cytec Industrial Materials, Dowty Propellers, EPL Composite Solutions, FORMAX, Far Composites, Formaplex, Granta Design, Güdel Lineartec UK, Henniker Scientific, Imperial College, Kraus Maffei, LMAT, National Composites Centre, NCCEF, NetComposites, Royal Holloway University of London, Sigmatex, Technical Fibre Products, Tilsatec, University of Hertfordshire, University of Nottingham, WMG.
