Composites UK, the trade association for the UK composites supply chain, has appointed its new Board of Directors at the 2016 Annual General Meeting on 11 May in Manchester.

Five directors were voted on to the Board by Composites UK members to serve a two-year term. Chris Little, of Consuta Training, Barry Delaney, of Menzolit, and John Toner, of Teledyne CML, were current Board Directors who were re-elected.

These have been joined by two new additions by way of Chris Taylor, of Axon Automotive, and Scott Tolson, of Sigmatex.

Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor is the Managing Director of Axon Automotive and Director of Far-UK. He has been involved in the composites industry since 2008 and has experience in training, health and safety, composite design and analysis, finance, planning and manufacture.

Chris has experience of both large and small organisations and is passionate about low-cost composites for high-volume applications, particularly for the automotive sector.

“Axon and its parent organisation Far-UK joined Composites UK three years ago concurrently with the launch of the Composites Innovation Cluster supported by AMSCI funding. I look forward to bringing my experience to the organisation and supporting the board with the challenging work needed to achieve the strategic plan,” commented Chris.

Scott Tolson

Scott Tolson is the Group CEO at Sigmatex where he focusses on the strategic direction of the company, maintaining strong alliances with carbon-fibre manufacturers. He oversees the coordination and control of significant investments in research and development, technologies and expansions in manufacturing capacities. Scott has been working in composites businesses since 1988.

“Sigmatex has been a member of Composites UK for two years. Over this time the Association has helped to increase the company’s exposure within the composites industry and has contributed to the growth of its network across the business, from a research & development and commercial perspective,” said Scott.

“For this reason, I nominated myself for a position on the Board to share my skill-set with a non-profit organisation which has been a contributing factor to our success.”
