Technical textile manufacturer, Ventile reports that its forward order sales are at their highest level in the company’s history.

Citing an increased interest from brands looking to offer sustainable fabric solutions for their customers, Ventile has announced that its forward orders for last month (February 2022) were up 68% on the same month in 2021. A reinstated consumer confidence alongside news of steady economic growth are also contributing factors, as the company sees brands looking to invest in upcoming collections.

Ventile, which specialises in sustainable fabrics made from cotton and ecological blends, reports that forward orders of its Eco range have also now surpassed forward orders for its previously best-selling Ventile Original fabric for the first time. The Ventile Eco range consists of fabrics that offer increased sustainable credentials and are produced with organic cotton fibres, as well as a choice of recycled fabrics and lyocell options.

“This news marks a pivotal moment for the brand,” said Ventile brand director Daniel Odermatt. “To be able to say that we have achieved the greatest volume of forward orders to date is something that we are extremely proud of and is a credit to the hard work of our expert team.”

Ventile fabric was developed in England in 1943 and is a breathable, all-weather natural fabric. It was originally designed to save the lives of pilots flying over the Atlantic during World War 2. In the cockpit, Ventile proved cool and comfortable, whilst in the water, it was warm and impenetrable – extending survival times tenfold. Ventile suits are still worn by pilots of various air forces and the fabric has also looked out from the summits of Everest, Annapura, and just about every other major peak in the world Most famously, Sir Ranulph Fiennes crossed the Antarctic clothed in Ventile.

In 2021 the brand announced its move to becoming a PFC-free company in response to the growing demand for sustainable practices in the textile trade.
