LifeLabs, based in Sunnyvale, California, is launching what is billed as the world’s warmest jacket.

With a score of 9.25 CLO, the new MegaWarm jacket is proven to deliver 38% more warmth than a Canada Goose Snow Mantra (6.7 CLO), 53% more warmth than The North Face Summit AMK L6 Parka (6.06 CLO) and 17% more warmth than the Arc’teryx Leaf Cold WX Parka SVX (7.91 CLO).

MegaWarm also has less weight and bulk, being 55% lighter than the Canada Goose Snow Mantra and 38% thinner than Arc’teryx Leaf Cold WX Parka SVX.

The jacket is powered by the proprietary WarmLife technology of LifeLabs – a new textile that reflects 100% of a human’s radiant heat back to the body. Using a nano-layer of aluminium – about one paper clip’s worth – the jacket not only achieves the highest CLO rating in the world, but its minimalist style, helps to create a lighter, more packable, and more sustainable jacket.

LifeLabs garments are made with less materials and fewer resources to reduce environmental impact by an average of 25% compared to competing products.

The brand’s sustainable manufacturing practices coupled with more efficient heating technology enable consumers to use less energy and therefore significantly reduce their carbon footprint.

“MegaWarm delivers more warmth than any other jacket on the planet,” said Dr Yi Cui, co-founder of LifeLabs.  “It is remarkably light for its scale and coverage and defies common standards for insulated apparel.”

LifeLabs is a material sciences company based on textile patents from Stanford’s advanced materials laboratory.
