New filtration media for improved indoor air quality

Ahlstrom, a high performance fibre-based materials company, has introduced Ahlstrom Flow2Save, a new media for high efficiency air filtration applications at the Filtech exhibition in Germany that is taking place from 22-24 October. The innovative, patent-pending filtration media is based on a gradient structure combining different advanced technologies. “Ahlstrom Flow2Save has significantly better pressure drop characteristics than other commercial HEA filtration media, meaning it is much easier for the ventilation system to push air through the filter. This allows significant energy savings throughout the life time of the filter,” commented Fulvio Capussotti, EVP, Advanced Filtration.

High filtration efficiency

Ahlstrom Flow2Save is said to provide high filtration efficiency to improve indoor air quality, which is especially important in public buildings, such as hospitals and schools, and crucial to protect people and help alleviate Sick Building Syndrome (SBS).

SBS causes skin irritations, headache, and respiratory problems, and thought to be caused by indoor pollutants, microorganisms, or inadequate ventilation. The key value-add is how easily air can flow through the media.

“Its sustainability credentials are compelling; cleaner indoor air quality, lower energy consumption and lower costs,” said Fulvio Capussotti.

Ahlstrom

Ahlstrom is a supplier of air and liquid filtration materials with a leading market position in life science and gas turbine filtration. Ahlstrom Advanced Filtration has seven production sites producing filter media in five countries.

The company’s products are used in a large variety of everyday applications, such as filters, medical gowns and drapes, diagnostics, wall coverings, flooring and food packaging.
