Loop Industries has announced a multi-year offtake agreement with Nike that will make the sportswear giant a major customer for the Infinite Loop India manufacturing plant which is currently being constructed in partnership with Ester Industries in Gujarat.
Loop will supply Nike with Twist, its virgin-quality circular polyester resin made exclusively from textile waste to reduce the usage of virgin and recycled PET flake across product lines.
The Infinite Loop India plant is projected to deliver significant environmental savings compared to fossil fuel-based polyester production. It is expected to achieve an 81% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and annual savings of up to 418,600 tons of CO2 emissions.
All products made with Twist will have full traceability through Loop’s proprietary chemical tracer technology, providing Nike with verifiable proof of textile-to-textile recycled content.
“Our agreement with Loop Industries marks a pivotal step towards transforming textile waste into high-performance materials,” said Sitora Muzafarova, VP of Nike’s materials supply chain. “This partnership exemplifies our commitment to scaling sustainable solutions that deliver both environmental impact and product excellence.”
“The commitment from this global brand is a powerful validation of our strategy to provide a verifiable textile-to-textile polyester resin and advance circular fashion for our apparel customers,” added Daniel Solomita, Loop Industries founder and CEO.
