The event will take place from 12-15 August 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. From emerging technology to trending patterns, colours, and materials; Sourcing at Magic will show visitors how to close the loop on production, processing and recycling by bringing environmentally-friendly practices to the forefront. Learn from the pioneers, innovators and industry shakers leading the sustainable movement to help fashion save the planet.

Film screening

The event will feature a Riverblue film screening on 13 August. Riverblue spans the globe to infiltrate one of the world’s most pollutive industries, fashion. Narrated by clean water supporter Jason Priestley, this documentary follows international river conservationist, Mark Angelo, and examines the destruction of our rivers, its effect on humanity, and the solutions that inspire hope for a sustainable future.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Denim industry leaders:

Sustainability-focused seminars

The event will take place from 12-15 August 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. © Sourcing at Magic Responsible business practices are paramount: why sustainability and ethical sourcing are a must at all levels of the market seminar will feature Lilian Liu, Manager of Partnerships, United Nations Global Compact, and Avedis Seferian, President & CEO, WRAP. Fashion companies of all sizes must create holistic sustainability strategies, encompassing social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and more. Consumers, media, production facilities, and other stakeholders are moving in this direction.

Engineering fashion - trends and concepts for a new materials world session will be presented by Kristine Upesleja, Founder & President, Madisons Innovative. New generation bio-textiles, 3D design, tech imbedded yarns, and a new global vision are changing the fashion world in indescribable ways. Attendees will hear about the expertise needed to become a designer of the future exploring fabrics made from coffee grounds, oranges and tea to incredible new electronics and software.

Moving the needle in the sustainable direction:  one garment at a time seminar will include speakers such as Tony, Chief Sourcing & Merchandising Officer, Haggar, Jay Hertwig, Global Brand Sales & Marketing Manager, Unifi, Brokie Lineweaver, Global Retail Marketing, Unifi, and Stuart Wood, Founder & CEO, Last Bottle Clothing.

Finally, The greening of the footwear industry: sustainable meets fashion session will feature stories of building products and brands to meet the footwear Fashionistas demands.

Art installation

Greensole, a company that recycles discarded shoes to comfortable footwear, keeping them away from landfills and provide them to children in need, will create an installation the show floor – made of shoes. The company has already donated 25,000 pairs of refurbished footwear to the needy across India. GreenSole receives over 1,000 pairs of old footwear from different parts of the country every month.
