The first pieces from Zalando’s private label Anna Field made with Circ Lyocell, derived in part from recycled polycotton textile waste, have just been launched.
The blouse and dress, available in a stone washed, dark blue, are both made from 100% Circ Lyocell, composed of 40% recycled textile waste.
Anna Field is one of Zalando’s six private brands and the company’s in-house incubator for new ideas and innovation. While each brand has a focus consumer group in mind, all share the ambition to be inclusive by design and to leverage circular design through the use of innovative materials at competitive prices. Known for its contemporary and feminine style, Anna Field provides a strong platform to explore how circular fashion can become more widely available while upholding standards of quality, comfort, and design.
This launch with Circ builds on Zalando’s broader commitment to circularity and its direct investment in Circ. By incorporating Circ Lyocell into its private label offering, Zalando is taking another step towards supporting the development of closed-loop supply chains.
“At Circ, we’re focused on proving that recycled materials can match – and even exceed – the quality, performance and style of virgin fabrics,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ, which is headquartered in Danville, Virginia. “Zalando’s scale and ambition make it an ideal partner to show what’s possible. We’re excited to launch this collection with Anna Field and make circular fashion more accessible to consumers across Europe.”
“Partnering with Circ allows us to bring cutting-edge recycled materials into our designs without compromising affordability,” added Aylin Dobberstein, VP of private label and product supply at Zalando. “As both an investor and collaborator, we’re proud that this collection brings textile-to-textile recycling one step closer to the everyday wardrobe. It also reinforces our belief that advancing circularity at scale is only possible through strong, purpose-driven collaboration.”
Circ Lyocell is produced using pulp made from polycotton, a difficult material to process that often ends up in landfills or incinerators. Circ is leading the charge in recycling and recovering polycotton blends at commercial scale, turning them into high-quality new materials. The recycled pulp is processed into high-quality lyocell fibre.
