Fighting menstrual poverty with Pantys

To mark Menstrual Hygiene Day today (May 28th), period underwear brand Pantys is launching a campaign to help fight against menstrual poverty – an issue affecting one in ten girls in the UK and more than 500 million people worldwide according to the World Bank.

The lack of access to menstrual products, information and infrastructure impacts not only their quality of life but opportunities leading to gender inequality.

Pantys is hosting a digital protest to raise awareness of a topic that still carries a lot of taboos in countries across the world, using social media to raise donations and awareness across three areas – menstrual poverty, menstrual rights and sexual education. Details can be found at

May 28th also sees the launch of the Pantys pop up space at Selfridges in London. As the first UK retail partner for the brand, the space has been transformed into a stylish bathroom complete with bathtub, sink and mirror covered with thought provoking slogans and messages of empowerment. The pop up will stock Pantys’ most popular underwear styles.

Pantys is the first period underwear in the world to be clinically approved and 100% carbon neutral. Founded in Brazil, it was created with the mission of improving the health of women and the planet through sustainability and innovation.

In 2019, Pantys launched its donations programme to take a stand against period poverty. Working closely with NGOs and charities, the brand has since donated almost 6,000 pairs to women and girls who do not have access to period products across the world.

 As part of this campaign, Pantys will be donating 100 pairs of Pantys to Bloody Good Period in the fight against period poverty. The pants will go to people who otherwise couldn’t afford or access period products. Pantys has partnered with Règles Elémentaires, the main NGO in France to fight against menstrual poverty

Pantys offers a wide range of lines from period pants for four different types of flow, to a postpartum line including the first absorbent nursing bra in the world.
