Report summary

Technical textiles are employed in a wide range of applications in the automotive market and their use is increasing as a result of higher demand for increased comfort, improved safety and, most importantly, a reduction in weight in order to achieve higher fuel efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

However, in 2020 the automotive industry was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the industry was further impacted from the middle of 2021 by supply chain issues, increased freight and transportation costs, higher energy prices, and shortages of supercapacitors. All of these led to significantly extended delivery times and higher prices throughout the supply chain.

This report includes an overview of the automotive technical textiles market and the challenges and opportunities it faces. Also, it features profiles of five supplier companies, namely Adler Pelzer Group (APG), Autoliv, Cap Seine, ELeather, and Global Safety Textiles (GST) - all of which are looking in 2022 to get back to the performances they enjoyed in 2019.
