DelStar Technologies, Inc. has announced that they have developed a unique DelPore meltblown media that is biodegradable and compostable. Designed specifically for the air filtration industry, the product is manufactured from PLA (polylactide) and electrostatic charging has proven to enhance its efficiency.

DelStar Technologies developed the new DelPore media for short-term disposable air filtration applications, including medical facemasks, respirators, vacuum bags, and furnace filters. Although more expensive than traditional polypropylene media, DelStar says the charged PLA media offers value to manufacturers concerned with sustainability, zero-toxicity, and low-energy initiatives.

DelStar Technologies is currently sampling both charged and uncharged versions of PLA DelPore various weights. DelStar Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Middletown, DE, has manufacturing operations at that location, as well as in Austin, TX; Richland, PA; El Cajon, CA; and Suzhou, China. The company also has international sales offices in Bristol, England and Shanghai, China.
