Johns Manville, a manufacturer of high quality technical nonwovens, will display several new engineered solutions at the Techtextil show 2015 that takes place in Frankfurt from 4-7 May.

The company will feature a broad variety of nonwovens, including chemically, mechanically and thermally bonded PET spunbond nonwovens, glass fibre wet laid mats, PP meltblown and glass micro fibre air filtration media.

Glass fibre nonwovens

Three glass fibre nonwoven offerings for ceiling tiles include filled, unfilled and coated glass mats with smooth and even surfaces and customized colours. These products are Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort certified.

Glass fibre nonwovens for the production of luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are said to feature high dimensional stability under different thermal conditions with smooth and even surfaces, as well as an open structure that favours very good paste saturation. These products are available in a broad range of area weights.

Lead pasting glass fibre nonwovens for EFB batteries are designed to provide excellent coverage of the reactive lead paste. This specially engineered nonwoven reinforces the surface, which in turn, effectively prevents the trickling of lead particles during the life-time of the battery, the company reports. Product does not rot in sulfuric acid and is said to offer very good tear strengths in aqueous environments.

Lightweight composites and filter media

3D PET spunbond honeycombs have been especially designed for lightweight composites. These products come along with outstanding thermo-formability, excellent stiffness, brilliant insulation properties and high mechanical strength, according to the manufacturer.

PET spunbond for industrial air pollution control applications include cleanable filter media with dust class M to offer excellent mechanical strength and pleatability – produced on the company’s brand-new JM BiCo spunbond line in Berlin, Germany.

PP meltblown nonwovens for food and beverage are said to provide precision calendaring, resulting in more consistent filtration properties. Third-party certified for high-purity filtration applications.

Johns Manville

The company will present these products and other engineered solutions for construction, building interior, filtration, energy storage and composite applications. These products are produced in five German, three US and two Chinese Johns Manville’s locations.

Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a leading manufacturer and marketer of premium-quality building and specialty products.

In business since 1858, the Denver-based company has annual sales of approximately US 2.6 billion and employs approximately 7,000 people, operating in 44 manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and China.
