Switzerland based leading textile machinery manufacturer SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler AG exhibited two of its latest machines for conventional yarn covering at the 15th China (Yiwu) International Exhibition on Hosiery, Knitting, Dyeing & Finishing Machinery. Covered yarns made with SSM machines are widely used in the production of hosiery including medical hosiery, socks and garments including underwear and sportwear.

The exhibition that took place at the Yiwu International Expo Centre in Yiwu, Zhejiang, China, from 19-22 November attracted a large number of visitors from the region, known as the distribution hub of hosiery and underwear.

The company shared a booth with its representative CHEMTAX Industrial, where it displayed an SSM FM1 preciflex manual high-speed parallel winder and an SSM NOVA-CS conventional single covering machine.

The flexible and innovative concept of the manual SSM FM1 preciflex is said to allow the cost efficient preparation of flanged bobbin for the covering and twisting process.

The second machine, the SSM NOVA-CS conventional single covering machine, is designed for the production of high quality elastic covered yarns ranging from fine to medium final counts. The machines’ key features include inverter driven motors, electronic traverse system, touchscreen terminal with recipe management, high quality spindle drive for minimum speed variation, eco mode with programmable spindle speed over time and a sturdy machine design for low maintenance costs.

SSM AG

The Schärer, Schweiter and Mettler companies merged in 1989 to become SSM. In 1999, Stähle-Eltex and SSM merged to develop air texturing technology and to strengthen their leadership position in the marketplace.

With HACOBA as its partner, SSM is also able to offer a complete range of sewing thread finishing machines. The company can also offer a complete portfolio for processed yarns.

Since 2012, SSM Schärer Schweiter Mettler has taken over the activities of Giudici, Italy. Giudici’s strong market position in the field of false twist texturing of high quality fine count Nylon yarns, an application that complements SSM’s established leadership in air texturing, will further expand SSM’s business in the chemical fibre processing industry, the company believes.
