PHP Fibers, a leading supplier of high performance industrial polyamide and polyester filament yarns, has taken over the Breathair activities from Toyobo Europe GmbH in Europe. Breathair is a complex and 3D fibre structure used in upholstery materials. Toyobo launched it into the European market in 2013.

Toyobo and PHP Fibers have now agreed that the product will be produced and sold at the Obernburg branch under PHP management. PHP Fibers will use the available production facilities, and Toyobo will provide its production and process expertise and allow the use of the brand.

“We are pleased with this agreement which will expand our portfolio by a new and future-oriented product,” said Jochen Boos, Managing Director of PHP Fibers. “As a long-established fibre manufacturer in the European market, PHP Fibers will boost sales and promote new developments and new areas of application. PHP Fibers, and its owner Indorama Ventures, is gaining European ground with this portfolio expansion and we are convinced that PHP Fibers with its experience delivers significant value to our customers.”

PHP Fibers is a Joint Venture of Indorama Ventures (IVL) and Toyobo since 2014 and one of the leading suppliers of high performance yarns in the automobile sector. The industrial polyamide and polyester filament yarns, produced at manufacturing locations in Europe, the USA and China, are used in a variety of areas such as airbags, safety belts, reinforcements in tire design or even in drive belts and hoses.

The portfolio also includes special types for other challenging technical areas of application, such as roofing and sealing membranes, textile construction, sail cloth or sewing threads. The brand names Diolen (PET), Enka Nylon (PA 6.6), Enkalon (PA 6) and Stanylenka (PA 4.6) form the product portfolio.
