Teijin Aramid, based in Arnhem, Netherlands, has achieved ISCC PLUS certification which confirms that its sourcing and processing of alternative feedstocks meets internationally recognised sustainability standards.

This provides customers and partners with verified assurance of traceability and circularity throughout the value chain.

ISCC PLUS is a globally recognised certification system for the circular economy and bioeconomy. For Teijin Aramid, it allows the use of certified alternative raw materials, such as bio-based or circular feedstocks, under controlled and transparent conditions, including mass balance.

With this certification, Teijin Aramid’s customers can now access aramid products made from certified feedstocks and use third-party verified sustainability claims in their own reporting or communications. It offers a practical way to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance expected from Twaron aramid.

“This certification gives our customers confidence that we are taking real, verifiable steps toward sustainability,” says Hendrik de Zeeuw, commercial director at Teijin Aramid. “We are not just talking about alternative feedstocks but also enabling their use in a traceable and credible way.”

The certification supports Teijin Aramid’s broader roadmap to becoming the most sustainable aramid producer in the world. From reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions to preparing circular products for market launch in 2025, the company is taking measurable action to support its customers and the wider industry in achieving sustainability goals.

Teijin Aramid is a subsidiary of the Teijin Group and a world leader in aramid production. The company’s products, Twaron, Teijinconex and Technora, are known for their excellent strength-to-weight ratios and heat resistance and used in a variety of markets, including automotive, industry, safety and life protection and aerospace. These high-performance and recyclable materials are produced in the Netherlands, Thailand and Japan.
