Melissa Stewart, global technology director for R&D and materials innovation, and Jean Hegedus, director of sustainable business development, will provide updated performance data and sustainability certifications for this innovative, patent-pending fibre that was developed as a market back solution. The sprint-style (10-minute) conversation will be held on Tuesday 23 February at 11:45 a.m.

Lycra Anti-Slip fibre is a denim seam slippage solution for applications in single-core spandex fabrics that require durable stretch and good recovery power, helping jeans maintain their fit, shape and appearance wash after wash and wear after wear. Using Lycra Anti-Slip fibre in the core of Lycra dualFX technology yarn further enhances anti-slippage performance as Lycra dualFX technology is the best solution to combat seam-slippage. Combining Lycra Anti-Slip fibre and Lycra T400 fibre, meanwhile, delivers the high stretch of Lycra fibre with exceptional anti-slippage properties and the excellent recovery power of Lycra T400 fibre.

“Seam slippage is one of the biggest problems in the denim industry, with its impact felt through the entire value chain and across all price points – from fabric mills, to garment makers, to brands and retailers, and ultimately to consumers,” Stewart said. “We heard the need in the market, and we responded with Lycra Anti-Slip fibre.”

First introduced at Intertextile Shanghai 2020, Lycra Anti-Slip fibre is one of 25 unique Lycra fibre offerings – collectively representing approximately 85% of the company’s total sales – to achieve Gold Level Material Health certification from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.

“The certification focuses on two key components: safety and transparency,” Hegedus explained. “For each product, we had to disclose our ingredients, our suppliers, and they in turn had to disclose their ingredients. So, our customers can be sure the ingredients used in these fibres are safe for both humans and the environment.  We’ve also committed to continuous improvement in the sustainability profile of these products by pursuing greener chemistries.”

This Lycra Anti-Slip fibre presentation will be available to watch on demand on 23 February, along with a video on The Lycra Company’s sustainability certifications.

Additionally, The Lycra Company will support Naveena Denim Mills in its Kingpins24 Flash presentation on the new WRAPTECH 2.0 product featuring Lycra T400 fibre. Silvia Toledo, senior strategic account manager for Europe, will participate in the session on Wednesday 24 February at 11:45 a.m. ET.

Kingpins has transitioned its denim tradeshows to an online format amidst COVID-19 concerns. Kingpins24 FLASH, which will be held from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. EST on 23 and 24 February, will focus on denim innovation and technology via a combination of on-demand (23 February only) and livestreamed content including product demos, panel discussions, trend insights, factory tours and interviews. Kingpins24 Flash is open to all members of the denim industry.
