Karl Mayer’s Warp Knitting business unit is gearing up for October’s ITMA ASIA + CITME 2025 in Singapore under fresh leadership. The division, a cornerstone of the company’s global operations, will present itself at the major textile machinery trade fair led by new president, Axel Wintermeyer.

Wintermeyer, an accomplished textile engineer with business training, brings nearly three decades of experience within Karl Mayer to his new role. He began his career in Asia-Pacific machinery sales, where he was instrumental in expanding into the Indian market and also significantly boosted market share for weft insertion warp knitting machines in South Korea, outpacing major competitors.

In 2002, Wintermeyer assumed the role of vice president of sales at Karl Mayer Chemnitz, and by 2013 had grown the company’s market share in composite machines from 10% to 50%. His leadership from 2014 to 2020 subsequently transformed the spare parts segment from a marginal activity into a vital business pillar, introducing a web shop with SAP integration to better serve customers.

Wintermeyer is now spearheading the development of the company’s Care Solutions division, aiming to take after-sales support to a new level by 2026. This is designed to strengthen customer relationships and Karl Mayer’s competitive edge.
