The Hygiene Group of Indorama Ventures (IVL) is launching Deja carbon neutral polypropylene (PP) fibre at this week’s IDEA nonwovens show in Miami (March 29-April 1), in addition to announcing significant advancements with its Biotransformative PP fibres.

Deja carbon neutral PP fibres have been developed in response to customer demand for solutions to meet sustainability targets and objectives. Having undertaken a fully accredited Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on its processes and materials, IVL subsidiary FiberVisions in Covington, Georgia, is now offering this select PP staple fibre range which balances greenhouse gas emissions with verified carbon offset projects, in partnership with Strive, a provider of global climate solutions.

Biotransformation, meanwhile, is a recyclable and time-set biodegradable PP fibre which is shelf stable, and allows fibres and nonwovens to be recycled. If diverted into the environment, it is scientifically designed to break down in natural conditions and to biotransform, leaving behind no toxins or microplastics.

All the six brands that make up IVL  Hygiene – Auriga, Avgol, FiberVisions, Indorama Asia, Trevira and Wellman International – are at the show, presenting a comprehensive range of sustainable polymers, fibres and nonwovens.

Recently commissioned technologies at Wellman’s site in Mullagh, Ireland, allow PET to be recycled without compromising on quality, while sister bands Auriga, IVL Asia, and Trevira also offer a strong recycled PET (rPET) fibre portfolio to the hygiene industry.

Trevira will highlight its recently launched range of bicomponent fibres based on PLA and PBS (polybutylene succinate) which are recyclable and 100% biodegradable under industrial conditions.

“Thge Indorama Ventures’ Hygiene Group is delighted to meet our customers face to face at the IDEA Show again,” said CEO  Shachar Rachim. “We are focused on working with customers to find solutions that add value to business and also sustainable. I am particularly pleased at the progress we have made in biotransformation technology, which we look forward to sharing. Biotransformation PP goes beyond biodegradation as it breaks down completely into non-toxic components that do not harm the environment.”
