Trevira to present new developments for nonwovens at INDEX17

At INDEX17 Trevira will again participate in a joint presentation with sister companies from the Indorama Ventures parent group.

Polyester fibre specialist Trevira, is presenting its comprehensive programme of products for the wide range of technologies and applications in the nonwovens sector at the INDEX17 show, taking place in Geneva next month.

In addition to new products and customised novel developments, the focus is on further developing and optimising existing fibre types servicing this important segment, the company reports.

Biopolymer fibres

A new offering in biopolymer fibres Ingeo is a siliconised PLA hollow fibre for use in fillings. In response to customer demand in terms of product functions and material properties, the product range for airlaid applications is being continuously enhanced.

This also applies to special fibres for the carding sector and short cut types for the paper industry; where the focus in on improving dispersion, the manufacturer explains.

Additional functionalities

With regard to the increased need for fibres with additional functionalities and to the use of novel combinations of raw materials, capacities in bico-fibres are being expanded. For both the polyester and the PLA programme, Trevira developed modified fibres for the hygiene sector (e.g. for wet wipes), where these stand out due to their particularly soft handle.

Emphasis is also being placed on finishes for fibres that must meet food industry standards, likewise on antimony-free polyester fibres, the aim here being to enhance product safety.


Trevira is an innovative European manufacturer of high-value branded polyester fibres and filament yarns for hygiene and technical applications, as well as for the home textiles, automotive and apparel industries.

Two production sites and a Marketing and Sales office with a total of around 1,100 employees are located in Germany, supported by an international marketing and sales organisation. The head office of the company is located in Bobingen, near Augsburg.
