The 2015 Academy, hosted by the University of Leeds, UK, from 5-6 November, aims to make and strengthen the connection between member companies, academic experts and future industry technical and research employees, to share information about technological developments.

“The NIA promotes fundamental understanding and knowledge of the science and technology of nonwoven fabrics, products and processes, and provides a unique opportunity for both relaxed networking and structured meetings between researchers, students specialising in nonwovens or related fields, and potential employers,” said Pierre Wiertz, general manager of EDANA.

Conference topics

The conference topics will focus on performance enhancement, modelling and testing, sustainability, rapid prototyping, innovative medical applications, renewable/bio-based materials, emerging products and technologies, and carbon fibre composites; however, proposed papers are sought on any topic in a multi-disciplinary spirit contributing to the advancement of the nonwovens and related industries.

Persons interested in submitting an abstract for either a speaking role, or the poster session must use the template available for download on the dedicated page on the EDANA website and send it to [email protected] by the 15 May 2015.

Those interested in submitting papers for the poster session only, should note that posters should be related to research work that has been started in the previous academic year or is on-going, if based on academic research.

Centres of nonwovens excellence

Since 2006, and the kick-off edition in Roubaix, France, the Nonwovens Academy has brought together around 500 delegates from a large number of academic, research and testing institutes from four continents as well as industrial companies.

The Nonwovens Innovation Academy rotates annually between centres of nonwovens excellence, with an initial focus on Europe, and particular emphasis on the host’s area of expertise and current research projects. Any research or academic institute or university department interested, is invited to join this network.

EDANA

EDANA serves more than 240 companies across 37 countries in the nonwovens and related industries, helping its members to design their future.

The Association’s mission is to create the foundation for sustainable growth of the nonwovens and related industries through active promotion, education and dialogue.
