The article announces that "the bio-degradation process leaves behind water, methane, carbon dioxide and biomass." Both methane and carbon dioxide are widely considered undesirable in relation to carbon footprint. Water is OK. This leaves me wondering what the 'biomass' residue is actually composed of chemically, since the original polymer - albeit reclaimed - is synthetic. If this unspecified 'biomass' can still be ingested in an ocean environment, then where is the upside of the equation?
