The 2014 event will be held at the National Motorcycle Museum and will again be aligned with the Composites Engineering Show, the UK’s annual trade show for the latest in composites materials, moulding and processing equipment, trade processors and fabricators, design, and simulation.

Over 200 delegates are expected at the black-tie dinner, which Composites UK believes is the premier awards giving ceremony in the industry.

Award winners

Morgan Composites and Defence receives the award in the Innovation in Design category for the structural composite blast and ballistic resistant crew compartment, replacing metallic pod.

Innovation in Manufacture award goes to Metrology Software Products, for its NC-PerfectPart that is said to eliminate errors from composite machining.

Zircotec has been recognised in the Innovation in Materials category for the electrically insulating ceramic based lightweight coating that enables composites to be specified for new applications.

ELG Carbon Fibre has won in the Environmental category with its recycling process for carbon fibre. The award in the Employer category goes to Airbus Operations, whilst MPM Bradford receives recognition in Employee category for Jonny Haley and in Apprentice – for Kaylie Mitchell.

Record amount of entries

“This year saw a record amount of award entries being sent to us, and it’s great to see the UK industry standing up and shouting about what they are achieving. This is reinforced by the uptake in participation in the coinciding Composites Engineering Show which has gone from strength-to-strength over the past few years,” said Claire Whysall, Composites UK’s Communications Manager.

“We’d like to see as many companies as possible represented at the dinner, with options to book one or two seats, or a whole table if companies want to bring clients along. It’s a great place to network but also relax a little after day one of Composites Engineering.”
