Advanced materials for greener world

Following up the success of ICNF2013 and ICNF2015, covering the topics Sustainable materials for advanced applications and From nature to market, ICNF2017 will focus on Advanced Materials for a Greener World, aiming to explore the potential of natural fibres to build a greener world for the future generations.

Keynote speakers will include leading industry experts who will explore the main topic in more details. Prof Alain Dufresne, Grenoble Institute of Technology, France, will present on the topic of Cellulose Nanomaterials and Polymer Nanocomposites. Prof Sabu Thomas, Mahatma Gandhi University, India, will discuss Manufacturing of Nanomaterials from Agro-Wastes and Production of Eco-Friendly Bio-Nanocomposites. Finally, Alexander Bismarck, Polymer and Composite Engineering Group, Imperial College London, UK, will address the question: Are Hierarchical Composite Structures the Route to Improve Properties of Truly Green Composites?

Natural Fibers Innovation Forum

Moderated by Professor Mario de Araujo, this forum will take place on the second day of the conference and will count on the presence of invited experts and all the participants of ICNF in order to debate the future of natural fibres regarding their advantages and applications for a greener world.

The conference is being organised by the University of Minho, through the Fibrenamics International Platform, and is focused on the latest scientific and technical advances in natural fibres and fibre-based materials, for advanced applications towards a greener world.

The conference will bring together various universities, research and technological centres, companies and all those interested in natural fibres. The conference represents a forum for exchanging ideas, presenting the latest developments and trends, proposing new solutions and promoting international collaborations.
