The event kicks off with an interactive workshop presenting Carbon Fibre Market Analysis 2015. Facilitated by Ben Rasmussen, President of BMR Associates, the workshop promises to deliver fresh, in depth research into carbon fibre markets extracted from IntertechPira’s forthcoming report, due for publication in December 2009.

The two day conference starts after the workshop and is chaired by Professor Steve Pickering, of the University of Nottingham, who will introduce a comprehensive and compelling programme. The event will feature over 14 presentations discussing key topics, including an overview of recycling technologies, operational challenges as well as end user perspectives from Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA), Airbus and Pete E George of Boeing.

Key conference topics include:

Carbon fibre recycling technologies: what goes in and what comes out?

Aerospace’s role in the development of the recycled carbon fibre supply chain

Strategies on recycled carbon fibre

Light-weighting as a key development target in the automotive industry

Perspectives on carbon fibre recycling from a major end user

The role of recycled carbon fibre composited in motor sport applications

A carbon fibre manufacturer’s perspective on recycling

A perspective on recycling carbon fibre prepared production scrap

Recycled carbon fibre as part of an integrated waste management system

Continuous processing for carbon fibre waste recycling

Recovering carbon fibre and moiré from scrap composites material

Processing recycled fibres for nonwoven veils and mats

Understanding the mechanical response of recycled carbon fibres

The event will feature a speaker line up of 14 leading experts from both academia and industry to address challenges in the supply chain and debate future directions in this fledgling industrial sector.

Rob Stead, Head of Conference Production at Pira International commented:

“Carbon fibre usage remains set to increase in the coming years, growth bringing with it the inevitable question of what to do with all the waste. Recently developed proprietary technologies have provided an alternative to landfill and incineration and even new applications for recycled carbon fibre material. This world first conference will detail the hows, whys, and potential benefits of large scale commercial carbon fibre recycling and reuse.”

Additional event highlights:

Over 80 delegates expected

Presentations from the world’s leading users of carbon fibre composites, such as Boeing and Airbus

First class networking opportunities

Comprehensive showcase of the latest technologies and innovation

Industry speakers include:

Adherent Technologies Inc, Airbus, Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Carbon Fibre Recycling Ltd, CFK Valley Stade Recycling, Firebird Advanced Materials Inc, Fraunhofer ICT, Imperial College London, Technical Fibre Products, University of Nottingham and Warwick University
