Roica, Asahi Kasei’s range of premium stretch fibres, was extensively featured in the new collections from Italian fabric manufacturers showcased at the 41st edition of Milano Unica held in Milan from July 8-10 – all combining craftsmanship, performance and comfort and using the latest-available more sustainable fibres.

Among stand out fabrics featuring Roica was Naturally Explosive from Brugnoli, of Busto Arsizio, based on Lenzing’s Tencel Modal with Micro technology – a traceable fibre sourced from certified and responsibly managed forests – and Roica Colour Perfect, a dyeable stretch fibre.

Delivering a real second skin effect with muscle support and outstanding freedom of movement, the Naturally Explosive fabrics are suitable for both sportswear and ready-to-wear apparel. Explosive Amni V550 is also a new biodegradable Brugnoli fabric based on Fulgar’s Amni polyamide and Roica V550.

Prêt-à-porter and beachwear

Cuggiono, Milan-based Iluna Group is a pioneer in premium stretch lace and introduced a new collection tailored for prêt-à-porter and beachwear. These lace fabrics are based on Roica EF, the recycled stretch fibre made with pre-consumer materials, combined with Fulgar’s Q-Nova and Radici Group’s Rencycle recycled polyamides.

Iluna also introduced the GRS-certified Lurex range of printable jacquard nets with over 75% recycled content.

A second Busto Arsizio company, Innova Fabrics, exhibited its Residual Free collection based on Sensil Biocare and Roica V550, while Gallarate-based InterJersey Milano showed three key fabrics developed with Roica V550. These were Venere, based on microfibre blends for bodysuits, tops, and fitted garments and Bio Nature and Bio Context, both based Fulgar’s Amni Soul Eco.

For beachwear, Bio Context provides durability, elasticity and UV protection. Roica V550 maintains its elasticity over time, helping to preserve fit and function and in combination with Amni Soul Eco also offers accelerated biodegradability.

Circular knits

Maglificio Maggia, based in Occhieppo Superiore, Biella, introduced two impressive new circular knits.

Fabric 51150 is a simple jersey based on a blend of cashmere and Tencel Modal, offering a soft premium feel ideal for winter T-shirts and lightweight garments. Roica V550 adds high-performance stretch for comfort and natural movement.

Fabric 55698 is a a structured, compact knit that offers rich texture and shape retention designed for jackets and overshirts, again combining cashmere, Tencel Modal and Roica V550, creating a fabric that feels fluid and fresh while maintaining comfort and breathability for winter wear.

Cremona-based Maglificio Ripa is a second Italian circular knit specialist extensively employing Roica in its collections.

The company specialises in four-way stretch circular fabrics which are available in both double and single-front constructions, with customisable jacquard designs to meet diverse client needs in sportswear, fashion, swimwear and intimates. These fabrics offer excellent elasticity, durability and comfort, reflecting a commitment to quality and precision in every detail.

Other companies featuring Roica in their fabric displays at Milano Unica included Penn Solutions, Reda, Sitip and Tessitura Colombo Antonio.
