European Digital Textile Congress announces keynote speakers

The event aims to bring together experts from academia, designers, suppliers of basic components, fashion and textile industries.

Organisers of the fourth European Digital Textile Congress (DTC2016) have announced two keynote speakers, Eric Hopmann, CEO, Dystar, and Gerrit Koele, TenCate, who will share their expertise with the international audience from 15-16 September.

The conference entitled Catch the Digital Wave will be held in Ghent, Belgium, organised by UNITEX in collaboration with University College Ghent.

The digital congress 2016 is the follow up event of a series of previous successful editions in 2010, 2012 and 2014. The last session attracted more than 260 participants from 15 different countries. This year organisers are aiming for an even greater number of participants.

Cross-disciplinary exchange

The objective of the European Symposium is to provide a platform for cross-disciplinary exchange on cutting edge developments in the field of digital technologies.

It aims to bring together experts from both academia, designers, suppliers of basic components (hardware, software, inks, peripheral instruments), fashion and textile industries in order to communicate their latest results. Organisers also aim to provide ample time for discussion to stimulate the exchange of new exciting ideas and concepts.

Conference programme

This conference intends to bring forward the best research, latest developments on digital technologies, different aspects, components and applications. During this event, demonstrations will be given on various digital printers and a variety of digital printed textiles will on display. High level technical lectures will be focused on innovative developments or scientific studies dealing with digital products and processes.

Eric Hopmann, CEO, Dystar, will kick off the first session of the conference with a presentation on the Movements of the global textile industry and its impact on manufacturers and suppliers. The presentation will be followed by the session entitled The digital factory of the future, presented by Gerrit Koele, TenCate.

The first day will also focus on the importance of sustainability, production challenges, innovative dyeing methods and products, featuring experts from the UK, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, France, and more. The second day will also discuss a variety of topics, including smart textiles, new business models, 3D printing, emerging market for digital direct printing, and e-commerce platforms.
