According to Schoeller Technologies, the efficacy its energear textile technology has been confirmed in an innovative test process at the Hohenstein Institute.
The Swiss company also says that the technology has received positive feedback from German Olympian equestrian Bettina Hoy and her horses. energear is a new textile technology from Schoeller that is said to ensure that the energy radiated by the body is returned to it.
“Every living being is constantly emitting energy into its environment in the form of Far Infrared Rays. A titanium-mineral matrix specially developed for energear, allows the body’s own Far Infrared Rays to be reflected back to it,” the licensing subsidiary of Schoeller Textil says.
According to Schoeller, the additional energy can lead to performance enhancement and the avoidance of premature fatigue. It is also said to improve regeneration, allow shorter warm-up phases during physical activity and improve balance, concentration and wellbeing.
Schoeller says numerous wearers have tested its energear technology and have provided testimonial of experiencing a positive difference. However, the company says, until now it was not possible to document the effect in figures.
Influence of clothing on mental performance capacity
In order to corroborate the positive experience; testers wearing an energear shirt or an identical placebo shirt were subjected to a new test process. The test recorded the age-related mean reaction time to visual and audio stimuli as well as the rate of errors per test model. According to Schoeller, the results show that testers wearing an energear shirt displayed a shorter reaction time to both visual and audio stimuli corresponding to increased information processing.
“These measurements taken by a neutral institute allow the positive effect of energear to be corroborated,” explains a delighted Hans U. Kohn, COO of Schoeller Technologies AG.
“This product was considered to come from the ‘esoteric niche’ by some and now we have real data that show a scientific positive effect.”
Improved performance for world championship horse
Schoeller says that it’s not only humans and plants (the technology has been used to promote plant growth) that experience the difference when using energear – animals do too.
Bettina Hoy, international rider and equestrian trainer has been pampering two of her top horses with an energear blanket since last September.
“The blanket definitely had a positive influence on the good result at the World Championships”, says Bettina Hoy.
Her younger horse, Designer, was very fresh and motivated after wearing the blanket. “Lanfranco, my best horse, was relatively relaxed during the blanket test, he was mentally strong and worked well,” added Ms. Hoy.
Positive feedback
According to Schoeller, people taking part in other tests reported improved concentration, better balance or deeper and therefore more refreshing sleep. Andrea Meier, nurse and biker in the soq.de Speedzone Teams tested the energear print shirt, without knowing what she might experience.
“I wore the test shirt during a 4-hour basic endurance interval training session,” reported Ms. Meier.
“I felt more powerful with the shirt. During technique training on the mountain bike, I was able to cope well with the tricky stretches.”
energear textile technology was developed for Schoeller textiles in 2010 and integrated into membranes and coatings. Since 2011 it has been available at licensing level for brands, as a print paste that can be applied to many types of fabric which Schoeller says can be used in the first, second or third clothing layer, regardless of the substrate.
