Invista's Cordura brand has been honoured with more than 50 awards in its 50th anniversary year at ISPO Textrends, securing its first best in category product win with Cordura 4ever knit by Yoonia (Korea). In total, 51 Cordura fabrics across six key textile categories were selected as winners. These cutting-edge fabrics are currently on display at ISPO Textrends, as part of the ISPO Munich exhibition, which is taking place this week.

Many of the winning fabrics selected were in the soft equipment category, a reflection of the Cordura brand's durable heritage, which has its roots in technical backpacks. According to the manufacturer, recognitions in categories such as Membranes & Coatings, Street Sports and Base Layer showcase the versatility of modern Cordura fabrics and how the brand continues to innovate fabric technologies with a focus on endurance and lifestyle apparel applications.

"We are pleased to see how our valuable authorized mills are being recognized for their dedication to creating long-lasting, durable Cordura fabrics, and we are truly humbled to receive a record-breaking 51 awards in our 50th year," said Cindy McNaull, global Cordura Brand and Marketing Director. "We believe the future of innovation is collaboration, and as we celebrate this major milestone in our brand's history, we are dedicated to developing the next generation of durable solutions together."

Soft Equipment

This category features performance products for tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, shoes and more. Lightweight, durable, abrasion resistant, UV-protection and waterproof are among the required benefits, with 19 Cordura fabrics recognised, the company reports.

Among the Top 10 winners in this category is the recently launched Cordura TPX fabric by Chang Ho, which is a lightweight, specialised laminate fabric. Others selected as winners in this category are hardwearing Cordura Lite, Ballistic, Classic and HP fabrics showing a modern spin on authentic Cordura bag and pack fabrics, from mills including LeeJo and Dong Jin, Korea, and durable Cordura AFT knits for footwear from Mifer, Italy.

Street Sports

Fabrics in this category range from denim with new performance levels to lighter functional fabrics and finishes with a fashionable edge that meet the demand of today's urban offering for second and outer layers.

Outer Layer

Featuring lightweight but ultra-resistant woven fabrics that can provide protection against the elements, the outer layer category winners include ultra-lightweight Cordura Naturalle fabrics all under 80gsm from Yoonia, LeeJo and One Chang mills in Korea.

Also winning in this category is one of the new 60% wool blend endurance Cordura Combat Wool suiting fabrics from Italian specialist Marlane designed for today's cosmopolitan commuter.

Base Layer

This category features next-to-skin fabrics for technical underwear, with pre-shaping, support, thermal or moisture management performance. Softness, comfort, anti-bacterial or eco-friendly properties are added values.

Cordura 4evert Knit fabrics from Yoonia were honoured in this category with Best Product and three additional recognitions. Cordura 4ver knits are latest addition to the Cordura fabric portfolio. Also selected was a Cordura Combat Wool knit fabric made using the new nylon/merino Cordura brand qualifying yarns from Suedwolle Group.

Second Layer

Spotlighted in this category are fleeces, lightweight protective fabrics and performance linings usable for maximum thermal characteristics. Cordura 4ever wool flannel shirting by Chia Her was among the category winners, which provides enhanced warmth, comfort and abrasion resistance.

Membranes & Coatings

Technical membranes are featured in this category, often including two-to-three layer fabrics with stretch that are waterproof, windproof and UV-resistant for ultimate protection against the elements.
