CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament and Tencel branded fibres are teaming up in a disruptive fabric collection of knits and wovens for the lifestyle and performance apparel markets. “Sometimes opposites attract and bring out the best in one another,” commented Susan Lynn, Global Sales and Marketing Manager for CoolVisions.

“The cool, silky hand and inherent performance attributes of CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament are proving the perfect complement to Tencel fibres. It’s a collaboration that raises the bar for today’s textiles.”

Comfort and performance

Tencel branded fibres from the Lenzing Group are derived from sustainably sourced wood, are produced via responsible processes, and are certified compostable and biodegradable. Tencel Lyocell and Tencel Modal fibres are designed to offer better softness, smoothness, colour performance, moisture management, and botanic origin together with sustainable manufacturing practices.

CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene fibres from Indorama Ventures (IVL) are inherently hydrophobic, with the lowest moisture regain of any fibre, and dry very quickly. In addition, CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament exhibits a lower specific gravity and higher yield than other textile fibres, offering more bulk, coverage, and warmth for less weight. Polypropylene has one of the lowest cradle-to-factory gate carbon footprints among synthetic fibres, and CoolVisions polypropylene fibre is Oeko-Tex certified.

Created by nearly a dozen innovative value-chain partner mills in Asia, blends of Tencel Lyocell, Tencel Modal and CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament are presented in a variety of constructions, colours and weights.

New functional fabrics

“Supposedly different fibres will lead to new functional fabric developments. The natural performance and aesthetics of Tencel Lyocell and Modal fibres together with CoolVisions dyeable polypropylene filament will meet the increasingly important demand for sustainable performance textiles for upcoming active apparel” commented Andreas Guertler, Head of Global Business Management Activewear at Lenzing.

The collaborative textile collection is on show at Performance Days, which takes place in Munich this week, and will also be featured at the next week’s Techtextil, in Frankfurt, as well as at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Show, in Denver, CO, in June.
